Pride of WCCIM, Masooma Sibtain

Tweet by World Chambers, shows Masooma holding the flag of WCCIM high

Gone are the days, when sons were believed to be the reason of pride for their families. Nowadays, competent and accomplished daughters of the nation, like Masooma Sibtain are keeping the flag high. Although, Masooma is the current Vice President for Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry but WCCI-Multan is proud of her, as she actually belongs to this platform. She is among its founder members and has also served as president there. Her eloquence and passionate attachment to this cause, attributes her the role of a permanent spokesperson and advocate.
Masooma was recently invited at the 10th World Chamber Congress held from 19th to 21st September at Sydney, Australia. Masooma was the speaker from Pakistan and gave a presentation on the Work Place Diversity. She shared her experiences of Women Entrepreneurs all over Pakistan. Masooma had prepared a presentation to show the progressive women in Pakistani society.

Masooma highlighted the role of women in Pakistan’s economics and the governance of Women Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Pakistan. She went on to say;
“An empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description”
She shared her personal experiences as an entrepreneur as well as a mentor in Women Chambers of Commerce and Industry sharing the success stories of the wonder women of Pakistan and their achievements. She stressed on the attributes of the working women who not only run a successful business but juggle their family/personal lives with panache.
“In Pakistan Women are not only great bread winners but are excellent bread makers too” quoted Masooma as she discussed gender roles in her session.
Emphasizing the role of Women Chambers in Pakistan, Masooma gave their introduction as an organizations whereby women entrepreneurs belonging to all tiers of society will find a forum to voice their concerns, seek assistance, and return for purposes of linkages, promotion, research and further development. The development of women chambers according the trade ordinance act in 2006 paved way for a platform catering to women of Pakistan. She also shed light upon the gender specific policy advocacy programs and the Women National Business Agenda.
The Women National Business agenda by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry will serve as a set of recommendations for policy makers as well as political parties of Pakistan voicing gender specific clauses. Masooma had emphasized on the gender roles specified in Pakistan and how streamlining those would lead to a lucrative progressive system. It has high time for not only organisations but the parliament and all major governing bodies to accept and implement gender diversification to progress and prosper. Masooma being one female vice president among 12 male vice presidents is itself an example for gender diversity in all major organizations of Pakistan. Masooma’s presentation garnered great appreciation and was noted to be one of the most inspirational talks in the Gender Diversity Panel. Her presentation portraying the women entrepreneurs created ripples all across the conference being shared on major social media platforms. Masooma aims to help rebuild the image of Pakistan which has been stereotyped as a regressive. She believes that today’s Pakistan Woman is a force to be reckoned with, a tornado taking in every major professional field by storm.
